The new banlist is pretty interesting (you can view it on the March Banlist tab if you already haven't.) A lot of people thought it was fake in fact because of the odd limits. Overall, I like it. For this article, I'm going to discuss what decks I believe will the the top.
Lightsworns - Lightsworns are definitely still alive and kicking. They lost 2 Lumina, 2 Charge, 2 Necro, and 1 Honest. They still have 2 Judgment Dragon and 3 Recharge (which matters since everyone has lost most draw power.) They also have a +1 tribute monster and can easily get more draw cards (Twilight.) Lightsworns have been nerfed, but definitely still have potential.
Zombies - Zombies have lost a lot of the things that made them one of the best OTK decks last format. Now they are back to where they were 2 formats ago - Tier 3. Potentially the Bludvis build can make it good, but I think Zombies are dead this format. (But they always come back eventually.)
Gladiator Beasts - Glads are back again. They were totally unaffected by the list, and that tends to promote a slightly weaker deck to Tier 1 (Lightsworns 2 formats ago.)
Cat Synchro - Cat is also really good now. Like GB, they didn't lose anything (except for 1 copy of Allure of Darkness and possibly Trag/Chaos Sorcerer.)
Blackwings- Overall, Blackwings gain stuff this format. Back to Tier 1 (they were Tier 2 last format.)
Monarchs- The new cards propel them to Tier 2, but no Tier 1 status yet.
Junk - Yes, the anime theme is good. Junk Destroyer is a pretty crazy guy, and Kieran (sp?) Waters performed extremely well in an European tourney using them pre-Junk Destroyer. His build was even without Tragoedia (which can make an OTK in this deck.)
Destiny Heroes - D-Draw to 1 was a huge hit. The current engine is something like 2x Tomato, 2x Malicious, 1x Diamond Dude, 1x Stratos, 1x D-Draw. I don't think that's enough to make it Tier 1 or even 2 this format.
Six Samurai - I'm iffy on this theme, I feel that they have some potential. I won't say much right now though.
Gadgets- Did Gadgets gain or lose? On one hand, they got 2 Smashings. On the other hand, they lose 2 Trags and 1 Oppression. My opinion is that they are still Tier 2. The losses sort of balance out I guess.
Infernity- I feel the format is gonna suck when these kids arrive. Hopefully they flop though.
