I recently made a deck that abuses cards like Magical Merchant, Skreech, and Salvage, but it's kinda rough. I would appreciate it if you fixed it up for me (By the way, I'm a budget player, so no synchros). Thanks.

40 Cards
24 Monsters

2 Doom Dozer

3 Magical Merchant

3 Skreech

3 Howling Insect

 2 Snowman Eater
2 Penguin Soldier

2 Mother Grizzly

 2 Flying Kamakiri #1
2 Codarus

2 Yomi Ship
1
 Amphibious Bugroth MK - 3

14 Spells

3 Salvage

3 Pot of Avarice

2 A Legendary
2 Moray of Greed
1 Terraforming

1 Lightning Vortex

1 Heavy Storm

1Mystical Space Typhoon

1 Brain Control

1 Torrential Tribute

1 Call of the Haunted

Deck Strategy and Win Condition

This deck is basically WATER MPT. The deck uses Magical Merchant to send monsters to the Graveyard and to fetch Spells and Traps. Milling Insects enables this person to summon Doom Dozer. The win condition is with either Doom Dozer or just small beats. Let's buff it up a bit.

Monster Line-Up

The monster structure already looks decent for a budget deck. There are a couple of kinks, however.

[-]2 Flying Kamakiri #1: Flying Kamakiri #1 is an Insect, is WIND, and searches WIND monsters to the field. This is not much of a valid option as Flying Kamakiri #1 is the ONLY WIND monster in your deck. We'll be taking these out.

[-]2 Yomi Ship: Decent, but I don't like this too much. There are so many ways around this card. Don't rely on it. Also, you have plenty of other field controls. You have Snowman Eater, Penguin Soldier, and Codarus.

[-]1 Amphibious Bugroth MK-3: Yes, I am aware of the fact that this card can Direct Attack for 1700 while Legendary Ocean is on the field. Honestly, I don't like this card. There are better options.

[+]2 Gokipon: This is to replace Flying Kamakiri #1. When Gokipon is punched in the face, you can add an Insect-type monster with 1500 or less ATK from your deck to your hand. That means you can add a Magical Merchant or a Howling Insect to your hand. Yes, it itself is an insect.

[+]2 Spined Gillman: Salvageable, Mother Grizzly targettable, decent beatstick, boosts the ATKs of your monsters. These help.

I would include Sangan, but it wouldn't function other than to search for Magical Merchant.

Fenrir would be decent in here. Add it if you want. The highest it can reach is 1600 ATK in this deck, but if you do manage to pull it off, you can annoy your opponent to no end. This is optional.

If you're willing to spend $14 (which you probably aren't), get a Tragoedia. This deck has mad hand advantage.

-2 Flying Kamakiri #1
-2 Yomi Ship
-1 Amphibious Bugroth MK-3
+2 Gokipon
+2 Spined Gillman

Spell Line-Up

Also only a couple of problems here.

[-]1 Terraforming: Terraforming is not good. You only have 2 A Legendary Oceans. A third could replace this. Terraforming may end up often as a dead draw. Don't use this.

[-]1 Moray of Greed: This is decent for clearing a bad hand, but there are better options. Plus 1 isn't too consistent.

[+]A Legendary Ocean: 3 Fields is better than 2 Fields and a Terraforming.

-1 Terraforming
-1 Moray of Greed
+1 A Legendary Ocean

Trap Line-up

A bit lacking here, are we? That could be a good thing, however. You could do either of the following:

[+]2 Spiritual Water Art - Aoi: You have plenty of WATER monsters and you have quite some hand advantage. It wouldn't hurt to take a peek at your opponent's hand and dump key cards/ruin combos.

OR

[+]2 Royal Decree: This is kind of off budget since these actually cost a bit. Due to the lack of Trap cards, however, this may prove useful.

+2 Spiritual Water Art - Aoi/Royal Decree

Alright, a Ritual deck! Haven’t seen one of these in a loong time. (:

MONSTER ANALYSIS

Well when we first look at the deck, I see a big problem. Brian is running waaay waaaay too many of the Djinn kids. He should be running 1, the Releaser of Rituals. 1300/2000, broken effect, the other kids just can’t compare. Especially since Garandolph wipes the field, your opponent will be hard pressed to counter, especially without special summons. I think we will be playing 2 of him. For the new Djinn cards, the only one I see as cool would be Disserere, to stop Bottomless and other pesky Trap cards. This makes Garandolph almost invincible (few SS monsters over 2500 and also immune to Traps, leaving only the Monarchs able to hit him as commonly played cards.)

Brian is also going with a bit of a Chaos route, which is really cool in my opinion. The themes blend rather well, and dropping Sorc after Garandolph (I think he’s German but I don’t know) hits is just broken. With only 30 dollars, we can’t include the infamous Dark Armed Dragon, but non-budget players should definitely try him out. (I think he is at 40 right now.)

This is the new monster line-up:

Monsters: 20
3x Garandolph, King of Destruction
3x Manju of the Ten-Thousand Hands
2x Djinn Disserere of Rituals
2x Djinn Releaser of Rituals
2x Mystic Tomato
2x Krebons (+0.5)
2x Armageddon Knight
1x Sangan
1x Chaos Sorcerer 3 LIGHT is enough for 1 copy.
1x Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind (+4)

I’ve gotten rid of a lot of the random monsters (Cydra isn’t that great here because the extra 2100 aggro damage is pretty uneffective, especially compared to the 2500 Garandolph could inflict if you devote more spots to him coming out.) I also play some Tuners to help bust out Synchros. Going Garandolph then playing Stardust is pretty devastating.

BACKROW ANALYSIS:
For the Spells and Traps, I would opt to play more Traps and less Spells. A bit more defense would be excellent for this deck. Brian doesn’t need that many Ritual Spells now that I’ve given him a stronger backbone. I would say cut those and a few of the other rather unneeded cards for some strong defensive cards like Bottomless and perhaps Trap Hole (good against Blackwings.)
Royal Decree is cool but uneeded now that we have Disserere. A popular fad is to tech an Oppression for after your explosion. I’m going to be a sheep and do that. It actually works really well against Glads. I was working with a friend on his Twilight deck and we cut off his last Gold Sarcophagus for an Oppression earlier today and it’s really helped out agaisnt the Gladiator Beast matchup

Spells: 13

3x Preparation of Rites
3x Ritual of Destruction
1x Allure of Darkness (+1)
1x Foolish Burial (+1)
1x Heavy Storm
1x Brain Control
1x Mind Control
1x Giant Trunade
1x Mystical Space Typhoon

Traps: 7

3x Threatening Roar (+1)
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Royal Oppression (+1)

So far we’ve spent 8 bucks out of Brian’s 30 dollar budget. I think we can make a makeshift Synchro deck out of that money.

1x Stardust Dragon (6)
1x Colossal Fighter (5)
1x Goyo Guardian (5)
1x Black Rose Dragon (6)

Final Decklist:

Monsters: 20

3x Garandolph, King of Destruction
3x Manju of the Ten-Thousand Hands
2x Djinn Disserere of Rituals
2x Djinn Releaser of Rituals
2x Mystic Tomato
2x Krebons
2x Armageddon Knight
1x Sangan
1x Chaos Sorcerer
1x Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind

Spells: 13

3x Preparation of Rites
3x Ritual of Destruction
1x Allure of Darkness
1x Foolish Burial
1x Heavy Storm
1x Brain Control
1x Mind Control
1x Giant Trunade
1x Mystical Space Typhoon

Traps: 7

3x Threatening Roar
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Royal Oppression

Extra: 4
1x Stardust Dragon
1x Colossal Fighter
1x Goyo Guardian
1x Black Rose Dragon

Hi, this is my Dandylion Monarch deck. I always seem to have trouble with deck space. I want to keep it at 40, but I also have loads of cards I want to put in it. For example I would like Cyber Dragon, Chaos Sorceror, and some more spell/trap removal. So here it is.
23 monsters 3 Caius 3 Raiza 1 Zaborg 3 Debris Dragon 3 Cyber Valley 2 Dandylion 2 Lonefire Blossom(good mill+Black Rose food) 1 Treeborn Frog 1 Sangan 1 Spirit Reaper 1 Marshmallon 1 Gorz 1 Tragoedia
9 spells 3 Enemy Controller 1 Heavy 1 MST 1 Brain Control 1 Mind Control 1 Foolish Burial 1 Lightning
10 Traps 3 Limit Reverse 2 Bottomless 1 Solemn 1 Call 1 Mirror Force 1 Torrential 1 Trap Dustshoot

Eric's Debut

A friend Eric did this deckfix today. Can you guys give some comments about his style, etc?

Dr. Eric's Thoughts.

This is pretty much your average Monarch deck. Average, except for a couple of kinks here and there. Let's take a look.

Monsters Line-up

Your monster count is pretty high. 23 is a lot. That's the same number of monsters as an average Lightsworn Deck. Lightsworn is fine with it because their monster effects mill the deck, thus speeding it up. Monarchs have no deck speeding, so 23 is a no go. Let's cut it down.

The first problem I see is the use of Zaborg the Thunder Monarch. Zaborg isn't good at all. It's outclassed by all of the other Monarchs (except Granmarg the Rock Monarch).

Also, your deck lacks the hand control monarch: Thestalos. Discard key cards, discard last hopes, whatever it is, Thestalos is awesome. Sure, Caius may be good with field control as well as Raiza, but what if your opponent has a Dark Armed Dragon? Or a Judgment Dragon? Or Celestia? Or whatever it may be that may send your tush to Scoopland? Play Thestalos.

Debris Dragon at 3 is pretty useless. You can only afford 1 Black Rose Dragon, and most of the other level 7 Synchros aren't too viable for the format. 2 should be maximum.

Cyber Valley is sort of a turn-off for me. It does promote Draw Power and it does slap your opponent in the face, sure, but it doesn't exactly set up for combos. You can keep these in, but I prefer these out. There are better options.

Spirit Reaper and Tragoedia are out of the question, especially against Gladiator Beasts. They attack your Spirit Reaper, then swap for a Murmillo. Bye, Spirit Reaper. They attack you and you summon Tragoedia. They swap for Murmillo. Bye, Tragoedia. Gorz would almost be the same case except for the fact that it summons 2 monsters in one go. It's also great for slow formats.

I realize that you want to add Chaos Sorcerer and 2 Cyber Dragons. Cyber Dragons might be possible, but Chaos Sorcerer isn't too good. Your deck would only hold 3 LIGHT targets for Chaos Sorcerer: Marshmallon and 2 Cyber Dragons. I suggest ignoring Chaos Sorcerer and taking out Marshmallon. Cyber Dragon is also somewhat situational, so I don't exactly prefer it. It's up to you if you want to include it or not.

I put in Plaguespreader Zombie, Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind, and 2 Krebons for Synchro Power. All of these are searchable by Mystic Tomato, which makes up the Plant engine.

We end up with a net loss of 2 monsters, so we're down to 21. Still a little too much, but viable.

Spell/Trap Removal is not exactly an issue.

-1 Zaborg the Thunder Monarch
-1 Caius the Shadow Monarch
-1 Raiza the Storm Monarch
-3 Cyber Valley
-1 Debris Dragon
-1 Marshmallon
-1 Spirit Reaper
-1 Tragoedia

+1 Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
+2 Krebons
+2 Mystic Tomato
+1 Plaguespreader Zombie
+2 Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch

Spells Line-Up

One thing I'd like to note is that Enemy Controller is pretty good in here. The deck produces Tokens and holds a Treeborn Frog on reserve, great for jacking your opponent's monsters. Combos very well with Dandylion. However, 3 is a bit too much for it may leave you at a disadvantage. Take 1 out.

Foolish Burial isn't too good in my opinion. You can dump Dandylion for Tokens, but you can't Tribute them for Monarchs on the turn you summon them. They are for Enemy Controller at best. Take this out.

Lightning Vortex shouldn't really be mained in here. You don't have much hand advantage, so you may as well end up with a slim hand which is almost never a good thing to have. Take this out. Maybe Side it.

The Plant engine is really good with Monarchs. With the monster deck fixes, you now have 6 plants for your utilization. With 3 Mark of the Roses, your 1 Brain Control becomes 4. More Tribute Fodder for you. Not only that, you can use Mark of the Rose to abuse your opponent's monsters or clear a path for an attack.

Since the build will be running Krebons, Emergency Teleport is a must. It's a Tribute Fodder, Synchro Fodder, whatever you want it to be.

Also, since this build runs 10 DARKS, Allure of Darkness would be good.

Cold Wave would be good in here as it actually lets your monsters stay on the field. It also freezes potentially annoying cards like Royal Oppression, Skill Drain, Royal Decree, Gravity Bind, Black Whirlwind, Bottomless Trap Hole, etc..

-1 Enemy Controller
-1 Foolish Burial
-1 Lightning Vortex

+1 Allure of Darkness
+1 Cold Wave
+1 Emergency Call
+3 Mark of the Rose.

Traps:

Limit Reverse is a definite problem. When not in use, it hinders Tragoedia. When you use it, the monster summoned is in attack position. It's a Continuous Trap Card, and it's slow. Take these out.

-3 Limit Reverse

Spell/Trap Removal

This is not so much an issue. You have 2 Caius, 2 Raiza, Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, Cold Wave, Black Rose Dragon, and Brionac at your disposal. That's a decent amount. You may want to side 2 Dust Tornadoes, though.

The Final Decklist

(Monsters: 21)
2 Caius the Shadow Monarch
2 Raiza the Storm Monarch
2 Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch
1 Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
2 Dandylion
2 Debris Dragon
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
2 Krebons
2 Lonefire Blossom
2 Mystic Tomato
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Sangan
1 Treeborn Frog

  (Spells: 12)
1 Brain Control
1 Cold Wave
2 Enemy Controller
1 Heavy Storm
3 Mark of the Rose
1 Mind Control
1 Emergency Teleport
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Mystical Space Typhoon

  (Traps: 7)
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Mirror Force
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Trap Dustshoot

*And yet again, if you want to include Cyber Dragon and Chaos Sorcerer, it's your choice, however, these are not optimum choices for the deck.

Okay so, a little intro on myself, My name is Jusker, and the last time I played competitive yu gi oh was 5-6 years ago.  I recently got into yu gi oh again, and what to compete at the local tournyment.
Most of the card I own are Banned, especially my favoirte CED and BLS lol. But After a few month of checking the board and the internet I bought a few cards and here is the corrent deck that I have. I guess what I want you to help me out is with advices suggestions and maybe a little fix. Remember nothing to expensive.
So My deck is some sort of Monarch with 3 tuners in the form of Rose and Dark Resonator. I think Gorz, Cyber Dragon, Spirit Reapers, Sangan, Treeborn Frog, Apprentice Magician and Marsmellon justifies themselves. As for the Monarch I would opt to play more Caius but at the moment I only got one of him. My spells/magics is really lacking, any suggestion in that department is helpful. And I think I have to many traps, and suggestions? O Yeah can you make 2 suggestion? One suggestion on ways I can make this deck really competitive, and one suggestion with budget in mind, I wouldn't mind speding about $50 on cards to help this deck out. Thanks man

Monarchs are great for Returning Players.

Monster Analysis.

Picture
Apprentice Monarchs have been around for a really long time and they've always been a solid Tier 3-4 deck ever since there fall. They can kinda hang with the top tiers but lose out a lot. A newly released card doubles their consistency - Super-Nimble Mega Hamster. Now, you can go Apprentice into Casters for consistency or Hamster into Ryko. The milling is really irrelevant. I would also run a different Monarch spread, opting for 2 Thestalos and 2 Raiza.

Marshmallon would be better off in the sideboard. Spirit Reaper gains advantage, but Marshmallon just gives Glads a route to victory. Tuners and Synchros aren't that great in here. I really want to try playing Sacred Phoenix in here, but she loses to Kaluts and Honests pretty badly. I think I will include her in here regardless though (since this is mostly for local play and on a budget, she is a rather good fit.) SEVERE BUDGET GUYS.

Jusker (amazing name by the way, I've NEVER heard of it before (: ) is running a lot of staples that were good in his day (Chaos era)

-2 Rose, Warrior of Revenge
-1 Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch
-1 Caius the Shadow Monarch
-1 Exiled Force
-1 Apprentice Magician
-1 Marshmallon
-1 Dark Resonator
-1 Magical Merchant
-1 D.D. Warrior Lady

+2 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
+2 Super-Nimble Mega Hamster
+2 Old Vindictive Magician
+1 Raiza the Storm Monarch
+1 Chaos Sorcerer
+1 Hand of Nephytys
+1 Sacred Phoenix of Nephytys

Other options might include Plaguespreader (non-budget, it's his whole budget in this case) and maybe a teched Crystal Seer or perhaps a Frequency Magician. Dandylion is decent as well.

Backrow Analysis.

In the backrow, there's a lot of stuff that I like but there's a lot of stuff I dislike as well (Reckless Greeds, etc.) I'll show my own backrow line-up I got through testing. (;

2 Pot of Avarice
2 Soul Exchange
1 Brain Control
1 Heavy Storm
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Mystical Space Typhoon

3 Threatening Roar
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force

1 Royal Oppression
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Call of the Haunted

Pretty self-explanatory. T-Roar is beast because you won't be losing advantage as much if you Roar in this deck (you can gain it back. (: )

Dear Nick,
This is a deck I have been playing with since the semi-limiting of chaos sorcerer back in september. It hinges around the speed of Rescue Cat with the power of the Chaos deck It usually wins at my school but sometimes I draw into bad hands with lots of spell or traps or no spell or traps at all. Monster Analysis.

Since this is a new format, I'm going to mainly be using Josh's idea, but not his cards (which are really open-ended because of the new format and all.)

This is a Cat Synchro deck. Cat Synchro was one of the strongest decks 2 formats ago. Last format, they were just Tier 2. In this article, I’m going to adjust this deck to the current format as well as offer my fixes.

Right off the bat, I see a simple mistake. Josh is playing Elemental Hero Neos Alius in place of Thunder King Rai-Oh. It sounds somewhat good in theory. After all, they are both strong 1900 LIGHT beaters that can bluff an Honest. However, the lockdown effects of Thunder King Rai-Oh are what make it a good choice. Sometimes, instead of using an inferior substitute (Miracle Dig instead of Burial from a Different Dimension comes to mind) using an entirely different card is better. I’m gonna cut the heroes for 2 Super-Mega Nimble Hamster. Hamster is a really good card in Cat decks. He’s got a solid defense score and even though he himself isn’t a LIGHT, he can bring out Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, who is a LIGHT. This still gives decent fuellage for Chaos Sorcerer.

I’m gonna take a risk with this deck and try to use some new tech cards I tested when I played this deck 2 nights ago. I’m going to add 2 copies of Junk Synchron. In theory, Junk Synchron is amazing. He can make quick Catastors, which is just amazing, but he’s also got an OTK, which I am gonna work into this deck for sure. Here’s how it works.

  1. Take damage.
  2. Drop Tragoedia with about 5 cards in hand. Play Recklesses to make this easier.
  3. Play Junk Synchron, pulling Ryko. Play Junk Warrior.
  4. Tragoedia copies Ryko, making him Level 2.
  5. Attack for game. (2300 + 3000 + 3000)
It’s actually really easy to perform and ridiculously consistent (since all of the individual components are already good cards.)

Another really cool guy is Mystic Tomato. He’s got a lot of cool targets in this deck, most noticably, Summoner Monk. That play is amazing because it sets you up right off the bat for an OTK.

A card I’m looking at favorably this format is Morphing Jar. Last format had a lot of Graveyard stuff because of Zombies but I think it’s a good idea in face-paced deck like this now. I’ll also include some basic cards that are good in here. The last cool option for this deck is Monarchs. Monarchs are really good, especially with Hamster providing fodder that +1’s.

Now I’ll modify the decklist to include these new cards.

Backrow Analysis.

For Josh’s backrow lineup, I would definitely recommend running triple Book of Moon. Book of Moon is probably gonna be a really good card this format. It helps stop Gladiator Beasts and can break up Synchro plays coming from Infernity and Blackwing decks. I would definitely run 3, especially since I can then re-use Hamster and Ryko, as well as Morphing Jar. I’m iffy on how many Pot should Cat run this format. I’ll go with 2, but other numbers might be superior. The rest of the line-up should mostly just be staples.

I would also probably play Mirror Force again this format, since Brionac is at 1.

Finalized Decklist.

The new banlist is pretty interesting (you can view it on the March Banlist tab if you already haven't.) A lot of people thought it was fake in fact because of the odd limits. Overall, I like it. For this article, I'm going to discuss what decks I believe will the the top.

Lightsworns - Lightsworns are definitely still alive and kicking. They lost 2 Lumina, 2 Charge, 2 Necro, and 1 Honest. They still have 2 Judgment Dragon and 3 Recharge (which matters since everyone has lost most draw power.) They also have a +1 tribute monster and can easily get more draw cards (Twilight.) Lightsworns have been nerfed, but definitely still have potential.

Zombies - Zombies have lost a lot of the things that made them one of the best OTK decks last format. Now they are back to where they were 2 formats ago - Tier 3. Potentially the Bludvis build can make it good, but I think Zombies are dead this format. (But they always come back eventually.)

Gladiator Beasts - Glads are back again. They were totally unaffected by the list, and that tends to promote a slightly weaker deck to Tier 1 (Lightsworns 2 formats ago.)

Cat Synchro - Cat is also really good now. Like GB, they didn't lose anything (except for 1 copy of Allure of Darkness and possibly Trag/Chaos Sorcerer.)

Blackwings- Overall, Blackwings gain stuff this format. Back to Tier 1 (they were Tier 2 last format.)

Monarchs- The new cards propel them to Tier 2, but no Tier 1 status yet.

Junk - Yes, the anime theme is good. Junk Destroyer is a pretty crazy guy, and Kieran (sp?) Waters performed extremely well in an European tourney using them pre-Junk Destroyer. His build was even without Tragoedia (which can make an OTK in this deck.)

Destiny Heroes - D-Draw to 1 was a huge hit. The current engine is something like 2x Tomato, 2x Malicious, 1x Diamond Dude, 1x Stratos, 1x D-Draw. I don't think that's enough to make it Tier 1 or even 2 this format.

Six Samurai - I'm iffy on this theme, I feel that they have some potential. I won't say much right now though.

Gadgets- Did Gadgets gain or lose? On one hand, they got 2 Smashings. On the other hand, they lose 2 Trags and 1 Oppression. My opinion is that they are still Tier 2. The losses sort of balance out I guess.

Infernity- I feel the format is gonna suck when these kids arrive. Hopefully they flop though.

My friend (CuDi` from Pojo) topped a Regionals with a Cat Synchro deck. A lot of the people I saw thought this deck was pretty excellent. I performed well consistently throughout the whole day and I think it would be viable for this format as well. He's already performed an update to this deck, using the new Super-Mega Nimble Hamster to replace his lost Chaos Sorcerer.

An Analysis.

I feel that overall, this deck is really solid. The only cards I possibly don't like are Giant Trunade and Smashing. However, with this deck's great OTK abilities, I think these cards can allow for easy wins so they might be justified. If I were playing this deck, I would probably go with Book of Moon over a Smashing and probably some more defensive Traps (Roars against Glads?)

I finished all of my articles, they will be posted tomorrow. Chaos Cat deck fix will be posted on Monday.

I've got a deckfix on Chaos Cat coming up, and that will be my last deckfix until further notice. Feel free to send me lists and similar, I just won't be featuring them on the blog. I've got some articles that I have to right (thoughts on the banlist as well as some Regional reports I recieved having people using interesting decks.) I want to get those up because I've pushed them back for 2 weeks now.

Dante was using a pretty cool Destiny LaDD deck last format. Too bad the banlist wrecked it. Light and Darkness Dragon is back though, this time with some crazy rodents.

NOTE: This deckfix won't include pictures, sorry guys my internet connection is being terrible, so I can't access pictures off of Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia. ):

I like this deck.

I feel that of the decks I've deckfixed so far, this is probably the one that was the best built originally. I've only got a few qualms about it. This deck is based around Light and Darkness Dragon, a sub-par card due to LS last format. He’s back and ready for action this format with the Tier demotion LS received (Tier 1 to probably Tier 2, they are still very good.)

Monster Analysis.

The first card I have a problem with is Des Koala. Sure, he’s good for defense. So what? The burn damage doesn’t contribute very much to the deck at all, and Hamster outclasses him with a +1. I also don’t like 2 Treeborn. I really don’t see the point of 2. You can get 1 out every time, and in theory-oh, you don’t want to draw it anyways. Why would you run multiple copies? It raises the chance you would draw it (exceptions being MPT and LS, where you want to have a higher chance of milling the guy and dodging D.D. Crows.) Everything else in here is pretty cool. Light and Darkness should probably be maxed out due to low draw power. Tragoedia is also nice. He can pitch extra LaDD’s for Stardusts. (: Nimble Momonga is really nice, but he loses to Desertapir. (I want to put a pic of him here pretty badly.)

-3 Nimble Momonga
-2 Des Koala
-1 Treeborn Frog

+3 Desert Tapir
+1 Super-Mega Nimble Hamster
+1 Light and Darkness Dragon
+1 Tragoedia

Backrow Analysis.

Moving on to the Spells. Giant Trunade isn’t very good. This deck won’t be pulling any OTK’s at all. This isn’t an OTK-oriented deck. I would also drop Pot. Sure, it drops off a few targets and whatever, but it’s not very reliable in a Hamster deck not using Rescue Cat. I would play an extra Book of Moon in addition to a copy of Allure of Darkness. I feel that there are enough targets for a single copy.

-1 Giant Trunade
-1 Pot of Avarice

+1 Book of Moon
+1 Allure of Darkness

Traps are pretty much perfect.

I love how the new format has encouraged a lot of experimentation. I think that this will definitely be a very fun format and will help Yu-Gi-Oh! grow even more! (:
